PM Modi calls Maha Kumbh the ‘Maha Yagya of Unity,’ praises Yogi Adityanath Govt
The Maha Kumbh 2025, a 45-day-long religious event, came to an end on the holy occasion of Maha Shivratri. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the event, calling it a ‘Maha Yagya of Unity.’ He shared his thoughts in a blog post on Thursday, highlighting how the festival brought people together in devotion.
The final day of Maha Kumbh was marked by the ‘Shahi Snan,’ a grand ritual bath taken by saints and devotees at the sacred Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The Triveni Sangam is the meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. PM Modi had also taken a holy dip at the same place on February 5.
In his blog, he wrote, “Maha Kumbh has concluded. The Maha Yagya of unity concluded. When the country awakens and starts breathing in new consciousness, breaking free from centuries of slavery mentality, such grand scenes appear, just like we saw in Prayagraj after January 13.”
The prime minister connected this spiritual awakening with the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which took place on January 22, 2024. He recalled that event, saying, “On that day, I spoke about devotion and patriotism. During Maha Kumbh, many gods, saints, children, elderly people, women, and youth gathered, showing the country's awakened consciousness.”
A grand gathering of faith
PM Modi emphasized that this year’s Maha Kumbh was a symbol of unity, where the beliefs of 140 crore Indians came together. He described the event as a ‘subject of research’ for management professionals and planning experts, given the scale of its organization.
The Maha Kumbh is the world's largest religious gathering, held every 12 years. This year’s event witnessed an enormous turnout, with millions of devotees participating in rituals, prayers, and spiritual discourses. The Uttar Pradesh government reported that more than 66.21 crore devotees took the sacred dip in the Triveni Sangam during Maha Kumbh 2025.
The festival was marked by extensive arrangements to ensure smooth management. From crowd control to sanitation and medical facilities, authorities worked tirelessly to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims. Several social and religious organizations also played a key role in providing food and assistance to the visitors.

PM Modi praises Yogi Adityanath
PM Modi praised the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government for successfully organizing the Maha Kumbh. As a Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh, he expressed pride in how the administration and the people came together to make the event successful.
He said, “Whether it was the Centre or the state government, nobody acted as rulers or administrators. Everyone was a ‘sevak’ (servant) during Maha Kumbh. Each person worked with complete dedication to ensure the event’s success.”
He also appreciated the people of Prayagraj, acknowledging the challenges they faced in accommodating such a large number of visitors. Despite the difficulties, the local residents extended their support and helped devotees throughout the 45-day festival. PM Modi thanked them for their efforts, calling their contribution truly praiseworthy.
The Maha Kumbh 2025 has left a lasting impression as a festival of faith, unity, and devotion. It brought millions of people together, creating a spiritually uplifting experience. The successful execution of this massive event reflects the dedication of the government, administration, and citizens alike.
With its grand scale, deep cultural significance, and strong organization, the Maha Kumbh 2025 will be remembered as a historic gathering of faith and unity.
